We’re looking for a Systems/DevOps Engineer to join our team. You will have a major role in helping us manage and grow our infrastructure from both a development and systems role.

We expect you to have at least 5 years experience in managing and/or scaling infrastructure in the cloud, bonus points for development experience in PHP and running Apache/NginX/Node servers. You want to think and breathe in Linux command line and have an interest in Dockers and container management and future scaling of large amount of data. Description of role

As a Data Engineer at Supermetrics you will be a core part of designing and implementing ETL (extract-transform-load) data flows both for our customers and our internal teams, including reporting for company management, marketing and sales.

We are especially looking for a person who wants to evolve into a senior data engineer with the ability to design enterprise-grade ETL workflows and systems for ETL processing.

Typical data flows involve some of the following steps:

  • Understanding the input and output formats of the data and other relevant constraints on the data processing
  • Helping the customers and/or stakeholders understand how the processing is best done to help them achieve their non-technical objectives
  • Pulling data from REST APIs, flat files and SQL data stores
  • Doing transformation tasks on the data – data cleansing and validation, filtering, partitioning, aggregating, calculating metrics – and figuring out the best pipeline for the process
  • Storing the data into various targets such as flat files, data stores or outgoing REST APIs
  • Scheduling jobs that recover from errors, such as hitting rate limits or quotas, and can do retries when failures occur

What you need to succeed

You have at least 3 years of full-time backend programming experience in a major programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, PHP or Ruby etc. the position is after all, for a data engineer.

As a part of the job, be prepared to at least learn Python, Scala or Java for writing ETL scripts and also some PHP to integrate your work with our web applications.

You might already have understanding of at least a few of the following:

  • Good practical knowledge of (ANSI) SQL and database design
  • Good practical knowledge of programmatically fetching and sending data over REST APIs with some programming language such as Python, Ruby, Java, PHP, etc.
  • Experience in programming ETL (extract-transform-load) workflows with a programming language such as Python or Scala
  • Experience, confidence – and also humility, in selecting the tooling for the acquisition, processing and storage of data for each ETL use case
  • At least a basic understanding and some experience in the topic of data quality and query performance

Soft skills

  • Ability to listen to a stakeholder and to really understand their underlying need – to read between the lines, listen carefully and ask good questions in a warm and friendly way to gently direct the discussion towards a mutually beneficial direction
  • Ability to reason about design and technical choices in a friendly, patient and humble way – also to non-technical people
  • Ability and willingness to constantly interface with people from various functions including sales, marketing, business intelligence, information technology, product development, finance and senior management

You’ll own the Supermetrics blog, and lead the development of a wide range of content such as ebooks, case studies, newsletters, webinars, infographics, videos and other materials to better reach, engage, and convert prospects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute on a content roadmap to support our go-to-market strategy and buyer’s journey
  • Own and implement our blog strategy. Conduct keyword research for SEO-focused content production. Produce content yourself or by working with freelancers. Promote content through various channels to drive traffic
  • Continually measure, analyze and optimize our content efforts based on data and analytics
  • Develop content assets to fuel all marketing channels to drive thought leadership, prospect engagement, and quality leads
  • Work with our Customer Success team on capturing our users’ enthusiasm and advocacy in the form of blog posts, case studies, videos, webinars, etc.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of content marketing experience. Ideally in B2B SaaS or MarTech
  • Excellent writing skills in English and creativity
  • Strong SEO skills
  • An analytical mindset to make data-based decisions. Experience in analyzing content data for reporting and optimization
