There’s one phrase that marketers dread: “Can you just send over a quick performance update?”

It’s a reasonable request. Marketing budget flows out of your company’s account (or your clients’ accounts) daily, across several platforms. It’s only right to keep your finger on the pulse and monitor how it’s being spent.

The issue, however, is that a “quick” update is anything but.

Navigate to the ad platform. Enter your login details. Check your email and copy-paste the 2FA verification code. Access the dashboard. Filter the results, double check you’ve got everything correct, and download the results.

Then, rinse and repeat this process across all of your channels.

This is just step 1. Once you’ve got the raw data, you then need to combine it, turn it into graphs and charts, add your own insights, and put it all together in a presentable format.

Thankfully, we’ve got good news: those days are now over. With Supermetrics for Claude, you can turn your live marketing data into a finished report — in one conversation.

I got a request to make a report that normally would have taken me 10 hours to build. With Supermetrics and Claude, I had it done in just 20 minutes.

This playbook teaches you how to do this — all from within Claude's chat interface.

How to get started

Before running this workflow, you'll need a Supermetrics for Claude connection and access to the ad accounts where your existing campaigns live (Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.).

New to Supermetrics?

The quickest way in is to start a free Supermetrics trial, then connect your marketing data sources—our support documentation walks through this step by step.

Once you’ve connected your data sources, head to Claude, click Customize, select Connectors, search for Supermetrics, and authenticate your account.

Already a customer?

If you're already a Supermetrics customer, you've got two options.

Either add the Supermetrics connector in Claude (Customize → Connectors → search Supermetrics → authenticate), or add Claude as a destination from inside your Supermetrics Hub.

Claude can immediately query everything you've already set up.

The playbook

Follow these three simple steps:

  1. Pull your performance data
  2. Analyze the results
  3. Create the report

Note: The prompts below are starting points—refine them as needed and continue iterating to see what delivers the best results.

1. Fetch your performance data

Start by fetching the relevant performance data from whichever channels or campaigns you’re reporting on.

Example prompt:

"Fetch performance data across [Google Ads / Meta / LinkedIn / GA4] for [time period]. Include spend, impressions, clicks, conversions, cost per acquisition, and ROAS. Also pull the same metrics for the previous [time period] so we can compare the two. Show everything in one consolidated table."

Tips:

  • Be specific about the channels, metrics, and time period you want.
  • Fetch a comparison period (e.g. previous quarter or year-on-year) to contextualize the latest results.
  • Sense-check the totals before moving on, and ask Claude to highlight outliers or anomalies.

2. Analyze the results

Once you've got the data, ask Claude to find the story behind the numbers.

Example prompt:

"Identify the biggest changes in performance vs the previous period. For each one, suggest the most likely driver. Flag any channels significantly over- or under-performing, and call out the top three things a CMO would care about."

Tips:

  • Don’t just settle for what the numbers say—also ask why.
  • Combine Claude’s analysis with your own conclusions. Use Claude to support your judgment rather than replace it.
  • Push back if the analysis feels surface-level, or ask questions about its findings.

3. Create the report

Now ask Claude to turn the analysis into something you can actually share.

Example prompt:

"Create a slide-ready performance report. This should include a two-sentence executive summary, a graph showing channel performance in terms of conversions vs spend, and a bullet point list showing % changes versus the previous [time period]."

Tips:

  • Be specific about which data points you want to show and in what format.
  • Ask if there are any other KPIs you should include in the report.
  • Get Claude to draft a short email summary to share alongside the report.

The result

What used to take half a day now takes one conversation. No exports, no wrangling with multiple spreadsheets, no last-minute formatting before the meeting.

And that’s not all.

When reports take 10 hours to create, you build them monthly or quarterly. When they take 20 minutes, you can build them weekly—or even daily. Reporting more often means you can spot issues earlier and quickly double down on what’s working. This rapid feedback loop will transform your performance.

You’ll also get more in-depth analysis. Insights that you previously spent hours to unearth will be available in minutes. This gives you the time and energy to go even deeper into your performance, querying parts of your data that you never had the bandwidth to explore.

Best of all, you’ll cut wasted spend. Catching an overspending campaign or an underperforming channel on day four—rather than week 4—might be the difference between losing $200 and losing $2,000.
